This article only applies to the Black Panther, Arctic Fox, White Stork and Yellow Mongoose sensors
During normal operation
- The sensor has three light-emitting diodes (LEDs): left and middle are green; right is red. [One deprecated sensor, the Yellow Mongoose, has only white LEDs.]
- When the sensor is first powered up, the right red LED will flash, and then the left green LED will illuminate for 20 seconds.
- Then the left-and-middle green LEDs and right red LEDs will alternately flash about 22 times as the sensor boots, for another 30 seconds.
- When the alternate flashing ends, LEDs will briefly flash for another 5 seconds.
- Finally, the center green LED will illuminate to indicate that the sensor is online, connected to the cloud. Periodically (e.g. every 15 or 30 seconds), the center LED will go dark and the left green LED will flash to indicate that data are being sent to the cloud.
If the sensor is not able to gain or loses connectivity (e.g. the ethernet cable is detached, no DHCP server is found),
- The right red LED will illuminate, and the left green LED will flash every 30 seconds
- After a minute without being able to get internet access, the sensor will broadcast an SSID of the form “@BLUE-xx-xx” where the four x’s correspond to the last four hexadecimal characters of the MAC address printed on the label of the sensor. Connect a laptop or phone to the access point and use a browser to connect. You will be taken to IP address 10.10.0.1 and the configuration will be displayed. Use this configuration page to set Wi-Fi backhaul if desired.
Note that this mode will only trigger if you don’t already have Wi-Fi backhaul activated on the device. To reset your internet backhaul to ethernet, see the How to reset a sensor to factory conditions? article.
During firmware update
- All LEDs will flash together every second during the update process.
- After the firmware is updated, the standard boot sequence will begin
- The boot process will terminate with only a steady center green LED when the sensor has internet access.
