Distance-based calibration is only available for Black Panther sensors running on firmware version 5.0.0 or more recent.
BlueZoo distance-based calibration determines power levels based on standard distance-power curves for each combination of sensor and antenna type. These instructions are for a Black Panther sensor with an omnidirectional antenna.
First, measure the radius of the perimeter of the inner detection zone. Next, using the BlueZoo mobile app, log in and select the sensor location to be calibrated.
Finally, choose "Distance-calibration", select your sensor’s antenna type (internal or external) and the units of distance measurement. Enter the distance with your keypad or adjust the slider to the desired inner perimeter distance. Click "Apply distance calibration" to set the power level in decibels corresponding to your measured distance.
Such calibration method doesn’t account for anomalies, like furniture or walls, but can be a first quick step to get your sensor up-and-running.
BlueZoo encourages you to fine-tune the calibration with the Range-Detection or, best, Ground Truth methods.
